Good single specimen fish for a 10 gallon?

Are there any good single-specimen fish for a 10 gallon tank? I know it's very small, but I am interested in adding a single medium fish to it. If there aren't any I'll happily settle for a betta, but I was just wondering if there were other options. If not, any good grouping fish like khuli loaches?
