Mr Hydogelis, who is presently on hrly assessment has a short-term latex urethral Foley catheter (IDC) insitu.?

The IDC should be inserted using a sterile open circuit catheterisation technique to reduce the rate of catheter associated urinary tract infection. The reason for open circuit catheterisation is to allow the collection of urine specimen for testing prior to the connection of the catheter to the drainage bag.
